What is C.P. Direct?
C. P. Direct, Inc. was a company based in Scottsdale Arizona that fraudulently sold herbal products.
Who were the principals of the company?
Michael A. Consoli, his mother, Geraldine Consoli, and his nephew, Vincent J. Passafiume.
What action was taken against the Consoli’s and Passafiume?
In May 2002, the Arizona Attorney General’s office seized the assets of C.P. Direct and sued Michael A. Consoli, Geraldine Consoli and Vincent J. Passafiume for civil racketeering through fraud and money laundering.
What happened then?
The Arizona Attorney General’s lawsuit resulted in the forfeiture of the assets of C.P. Direct and others in April, 2003. Most of these assets were turned over to a Receiver who is responsible for compensating the injured persons who purchased the fraudulent herbal products.
What were some of the findings of the Court in the lawsuit involving the C.P. Direct products?
The Court found that C.P. Direct’s products were not the result of scientific or medical research as claimed by the company and its “before and after” testimonial photos displayed on its promotional Web site contained false attributions about its products.
Were any of the company’s principals criminally charged?
Yes. Michael A. Consoli and Vincent J. Passafiume pled guilty in Arizona to fraud and money laundering charges and in July 2004 they were sentenced to five years of supervised probation and six months in the county jail.
Why aren’t more these type of fraudulent scams shut down?
Apparently Arizona is the only state in the country that has successfully shut down a company engaged in the sale of penis, breast and height enlargement products. In addition to selling these products, C.P. Direct failed to fulfill refund requests and made unauthorized charges on customer credit cards.
I don’t know the exact dollar amount of how much I purchased/I don’t have my credit card that I used anymore, what do I do?
